As part of our community outreach, a portion of SCF tithes provides monthly support to charities in Solwezi. You can read about one of them below. If you would like to know more, or to contribute to the work directly , contact sfc.kge@gmail.com for details.
Vision for Emmanuel Orphanage: The centre of everything is the value of the child. To ensure that each child survives and thrives after leaving the centre.
Emmanuel helps orphans referred by Social Welfare. The children are vulnerable, coming from backgrounds with abuse or neglect or severe economic hardship, and with no contact with relatives.
At the time of writing, Emmanuel is home to 62 children, with 34 boys and 28 girls. They range in age from 2 to 19 years old.
The children receive schooling at various local institutions including Soltec, St Francis and local secondary schools. Up to Grade 7 they are schooled at Emmanuel.
The orphanage runs various projects in an effort to be as self-sustainable as possible. Projects include poultry (village chickens), banana plantation, fish farming, sewing, farming crops such as maize, cabbages, rape and other vegetables.
The orphanage is supported by various well wishers including SCF members through tithes.
